Terms of Service
Last updated: June 29, 2025
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the ShipJobs candidate platform. By creating an account, searching jobs, or submitting an application, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
ShipJobs provides tools to discover maritime vacancies, build a professional seafarer profile, apply to roles, and connect with employers seeking crew and shore-based talent. Features may change as we improve the platform.
2. Eligibility and account responsibility
You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be legally able to enter into employment arrangements in the jurisdictions where you seek work.
3. Profiles, applications, and employer access
You control the information in your candidate profile. When you apply to a vacancy or enable visibility for hiring, you authorize us to share your profile, documents, and application responses with the relevant employer so they can evaluate your suitability and contact you about the opportunity.
You represent that information you submit — including certificates, sea service, and medical fitness — is truthful and that you have the right to share uploaded documents.
Employers make independent hiring decisions. We do not guarantee interviews, offers, embarkation, or compensation.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit false credentials, impersonate another person, or misrepresent qualifications.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or disrupt platform systems.
- Use the service for unlawful discrimination, spam, or harassment.
- Upload malware or content that infringes third-party rights.
- Circumvent security, access controls, or another user's data.
5. Relationship with employers
Employers using our hiring tools are not agents of ShipJobs unless explicitly stated. Employment contracts, wages, working conditions, and vessel assignments are between you and the hiring organization. We are not your employer.
6. Intellectual property
The platform, branding, and software are owned by ShipJobs or its licensors. You retain ownership of content you upload but grant us a limited license to host, display, and transmit it for recruitment purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability or that every job listing is current. You are responsible for verifying vacancy details, contract terms, and employer credentials before accepting employment.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShipJobs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, employer decisions, or employment outcomes. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of amounts you paid us in the prior twelve months or one hundred U.S. dollars.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose security or legal risk. You may close your account at any time through profile settings or by contacting support.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Questions: legal@shipjobs.com.
